Rhodophytes are a very broad group of algae characterized by having, in addition to chlorophyll A, the pigments Phycocyanin and Phycoerythrin, the latter giving them their red color. It is a group with a high diversification: there are representatives formed by a single cell, while others present a large size, with arborescent forms.
